drenched in flowers

smiles poor in

happy hi’s and short hello’s

respond with a fine

and your secrets will be discovered

fine is no longer acceptable

fine is now reversed to mean not so divine

fine used to be dependable

i must revert to good, great

or maybe wonderful

think think

don’t lay it on too thick

what can i share

what did i prepare

for this very moment

between the last end and now

again at the beginning

i can’t be honest, i wouldn’t dare

i don’t know how much longer i can keep grinning

quick, ask a mile long list of questions

let them talk, share their stories

filled with laughter and core memories

leave no room for allegations

short and sweet

leave them drenched in flowers

unable to see beyond the pretty garden

laid before their feet

unable to acknowledge the presiding pardon

blossoming in your eyes

peonies, daisies, sunflowers, roses

each pedal brimming with dew

from the morning sun of their sunlit memories

not a single weed among the flowers

hidden in plain sight

like rosecolored glasses

hidden in the night

distract them enough with a mirror

build a garden for them

and their sight will never be unclearer

all they will see is me

drenched in flowers too
